This introductory qualification is designed for learners who may be ready to progress quickly to further study, the Award offers a basic introduction to the principles of art and provides learners with the opportunity to develop generic, transferable and sector-specific skills related to the creative industries in order for them to progress to further learning. We also offer an optional two night residential in the Lake District where you can participate in the outdoor pursuits, such as hill walking, open canoeing and ghyll scrambling or the arts, such as botanical drawing, landscape photography and mindfulness in nature.
The course is based on a Programme of Study, which consists of: the vocational qualification itself; a City & Guilds Employability and Personal Development Award, maths and English, a tutorial programme and work experience where appropriate. Learners will study both core Employability units and sector specific units over the duration of the course. Our experienced staff will deliver a variety of practical workshops and presentations alongside independent student research.
